International Webinar, Unila’s Steps to Build Global Engagement

(Unila): University of Lampung (Unila) through the Unila International Office held an international webinar entitled “Entrepreneurial Strategy to Exploit Business Opportunities in the New Normal Era”, Thursday (2/7/2020).

In addition to presenting entrepreneur experts from the University of Technology of Sydney, Prof. Hussain Rammal, the organizers invited Dr. Mahrinasari, S.E., M.Sc., as the Chairperson of the Master of Management FEB Unila as a speaker.

The webinar which was officially opened by the Chancellor of Unila, Prof. Dr. Karomani, M.Sc., was attended by 35 Unila partner campuses who are members of the Rector’s Forum for Strengthening the Nation, and also attended by the Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and ICT, Prof. Suharso, Ph.D., lecturers, and education staff at the local campus.

Director of International Office of Unila Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, M.B.A., as the head of the organizer, said that the community is required to have creative thinking skills in order to find solutions to address their needs.

“Covid-19 should be creatively responded so as not to interfere with the prosperity and welfare of the people. This way of thinking is what is discussed in this webinar,” he said.

Ayi also added that this international webinar is an implementation of the ideals of the University of Lampung to be present on the national and international stage by conducting the Global Engagement Initiative.

Not only that, Unila wants to provide benefits by presenting professors, doctors, and lecturers who have ideas that can be shared with the community as well as co-branding between Unila lecturers and foreign lecturers.

In line with Dr. Ayi, the Chancellor of Unila when delivering his speech hoped that each individual and institution who attended this online seminar could participate in carrying out international cooperation in the academic field.

“I hope that we all gain new knowledge and experience, and find solutions for the development of academic activities, especially in the current pandemic situation,” explained the Professor of Communication Studies.

This virtual meeting was initiated with several goals. Among other things, to discuss several aspects of digital entrepreneurship and share new paradigms in the business world in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This international webinar begins with a presentation session by Prof. Hussain Rammal about the number of entrepreneurial opportunities available as well as what strategies to use.

According to Hussain, looking for opportunities in the midst of uncertain conditions and taking advantage of the situation is the right way for entrepreneurs to do today.

Entrepreneurial strategy is not only a response, but must also change old ideas that are not relevant to the current situation as fresh ideas to survive.

The use of technology is no less important in making strategic changes in the business sector. The idea of removing or reducing interactions with each other has begun as a result of the pandemic.

Remote working solutions through the use of applications such as video conferencing, online transportation, and online media have emerged. It is at this point that it is believed that there are actually many business opportunities that can be explored, especially in the face of the new normal era.

Based on these results, entrepreneurs can determine what types and business strategies can be run in the face of the new normal era.

Not only that, digital entrepreneurship at this time also did not escape Hussain’s discussion. In addition to internet usage which reached 150 million users, an increase of 13% from the previous year, digital entrepreneurship also made a major contribution in helping increase economic growth, as well as facilitating information and services.
