Rector Attends EduSummit Conference to Encourages Unila Towards World Class University
(Unila): The agenda of the University of Lampung (Unila) to realize a World-Class University is still going. This time, Unila’s Rector Prof. Karomani and his team, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Heryandi, Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and ICT Prof. Suharso, and The Head of Technical Implementation Unit for the Development of International Cooperation and Services (UPT PKLI) Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, S.E., M.B.A. attended the invitation to the EduData Summit 2022 Conference in New York, America.
The EduData Summit 2022 conference is hosted by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a world-leading provider of services, analytics, and insights for higher education. The conference will be held from 8 to 10 June 2022 at the United Nations (UN) in New York. QS, known as the QS World University Rankings, and also the world’s largest higher education network that connects stakeholders through several higher education conferences. The conference aims to help foster academic excellence and innovation, promote inclusion, and encourage multilateral discussion. The EduData Summit is a world-class forum for data educators, platform strategists, data scientists, Chief Information Officers (CIOs), and others to discuss and share best practices in big data, predictive analytics, learning analytics, and education.
This year’s conference is the seventh time that international delegations from business and investors, governments, multilateral organizations, and development partners bring together international delegates from business and investors, as well as development partners to share their visions and experiences with the theme “The Virtuous Circle: Sustainable and inclusive life-long learning through EduData”. Topics discussed in this conference are how data contributes to equal access to education, tracking the success of initiatives that promote sustainable learning, how industry affects course content, changing demands of employers and employees, and how government policies direct resources towards specific sectors, or have incentives for certain majors. The EduData Summit presented seven speakers, including Inderpal Bhandari as Global Chief Data Officer, IBM, Ria Cheruvu, AI Lead Ethics Architect, Intel Philip Cotton, Head of Scholars Program from the Mastercard Foundation, Robert Kirkpatrick, Executive Director, UN Global Pulse, Sally Jeffery, Global education and skills network leader, PwC, Kate Brandt, Google Chief Sustainability Officer, and Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, UNESCO.
Head of the QS WCU Unila’s Team Dr. Ir. Paul Benyamin Timotiwu, M.S., said that Unila’s participation in the EduData Summit in New York this year was a great opportunity to join the EduData community from five continents so that they could share experiences, learn, and establish cooperation between educational institutions. Unila start is to be included in the list of World Class Universities starting with Asian rankings. “One of the first steps needed is to introduce the University of Lampung in the world of higher education globally,” he said. For this reason, QS as the organization that organizes the WCU rankings has made a list of conference agendas that can be attended by various universities participating in the rankings, including Unila. The importance of this participation is that Unila must appear, network, and open up the possibility of collaboration by meeting with other top university leaders from various universities around the world. The impact of the participation of the University of Lampung with the theme of the event will of course be a provision in planning all its activities towards a world-class university and certainly fulfills the 8 KPIs announced by the government.
