      Unila Hosted ACP Off-Campus Program and The 6th ACP Conference

      Asian Cooperative Program (ACP) was a consortium of 15 universities in seven Asian countries. The theme of the consortium was “Safety Management including Natural Disaster and Man Made Disaster; including Industrial Disaster and Social Conflicts”. This program was divided into two; ACP-Off Campus Program and The 6th ACP Conference. Off-Campus Program carried the theme “Comparative Research on Safety Management: Indonesia, Japan, and ACP Countries” which provided unique educational opportunity to the students from 15 ACP consortium universities.

      This program provided the information about safety management on how to manage human resources when crisis such as natural disasters strike so that the students can develop their skills in implementing Safety Management when necessary. Through field work and cultural exchange with the other students also with different culture and background this program aimed at encouraging participants to deepen mutual understanding and friendship. This should be a worthwhile and valuable opportunity for all the participants.

      This year, University of Lampung had opportunity to host the Asian Cooperative Program which was held on 3 until 12 February 2018. This program was carried out cooperatively by Kansai University of International Studies (KUIS), Japan, University of Lampung and also the students from other member universities of ACP consortium. The purpose of the program was to understand the diversity and to obtain the ability in solving the problems through learning the safety and security in Indonesia, particularly about the risk reduction against natural disasters, sustainable development, and multicultural symbiosis and compare those things with theirs in their countries.

      The objectives of this program are:
      1.    Cultivate the ability of collecting and utilizing information
      Collect the information regarding the approach toward the safety and security in Indonesia, their actual disaster risk reduction and the situation of each region. Visit some field to have a research about the current condition to make new recommendation based on the research results.
      2.    Promote diversity understanding and cultivate the abilities of exchanging and adjusting opinion
      3.    Develop effective social skills
      Learn and communicate with the students from ACP those who have different mother languages and cultural background, the students can develop social skills in an ever-changing globalized community.
