Unila Joined the 5th Batch of SEA-Teacher Program

University of Lampung participated on the 5th Batch of Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Program) which was held on January 22 until February 18, 2018. This program was under supervision and coordination by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMES) which was based in Thailand.
SEA-Teacher program was joined by some universities from some countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines.
The aim of this program is to provide opportunity for pre-service student teacher to have teaching experiences in school in other countries in Southeast Asia. The objectives of the program are:
1. To enable the students to develop their teaching skill and pedagogy.
2. To encourage the students to practice their English skill.
3. To allow the students to gain a broader regional and world view.
SEAMES held this program twice a year on January and July. This program opens for 4th year students whose major are in area of teaching English, Science, Math and Pre-School. Mentor will be provided by the host university to supervise and monitor the students’ teacher activity. Besides, the students also were being guided by one cooperating teacher from practicum school for each student. The students were assigned weekly during the only one month period of SEA-Teacher Program with following activities:
1st week : Class Observation
2nd week : Teaching Assistant
3rd week : Teaching Classroom
4th week : Reflection and Lesson Learned
In this 5th batch, Unila had eight outbound students from Teacher Training and Education Faculty who were sent to seven universities in Thailand and Philippines. The following universities were WVSU (Philippines), PSU (Philippines), SLU (Philippines), XU (Philippines), PNRU (Thailand), VRU (Thailand) and BRU (Thailand). While at the same time, Unila also hosted six inbound students from three different universities in Philippines that are from MinSCAT, PSU, and SLU. The whole selection processes were done by online interviewing scheduled and coordinated by SEAMES.
