
Joint Summer School activities at the University of Lampung from 23 to 30 June 2019 participated by lecturers from FISIP University of Lampung, lecturers from the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb and the University of Vern from Croatia, and international students from Croatia, Madagascar , Rwanda and students from Indonesia (Lampung University and outside Lampung University) are a continuation of the previously established collaborative activities.
The preliminary activity that has taken place is the visiting lecturer activity of one of the lecturers of the University of Lampung’s Social Sciences Faculty, Dr. Ari Darmastuti, to give a lecture at the University of Zagreb in September 2017 and be a speaker at an international seminar on the Crojuni Island of Croatia in early May 2019 and the arrival of a lecturer from the Faculty of Political Science, Dr. Robert Mikac, to be a keynote speaker at the international seminar IICIS FISIP Unila in September 2018.
Based on intensive communication and informal agreements between the two institutions, in June 2019 a series of activities was planned to formalize the collaboration that had taken place in the form of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Lampung University, Zagreb University and Vern University of Croatia. In addition, it was agreed that the implementation of periodic summer school management cooperation activities with a scheme of mutual visits and location changes between the two countries means that in 2019 it will be held at Lampung University, 2020 in Zagreb, Croatia, 2021 in Lampung and so on.
The first day
Sunday June 23 2019.
Guest: Croatian Ambassador to Indonesia, 12 professors and 5 master students from the University of Zagreb and Vern University were picked up at Raden Inten Airport by the Acting Secretary of Lampung Province, Vice Rector IV of the University of Lampung, Secretary of the Lampung Provincial Education Office, Chair of the Committee and the Joint Summer School committee, as well as some Lampung Sai management. The group went directly to the Sheraton Hotel (Ambassador) and the Emersia Hotel (professors and students from Croatia).
In the evening the Welcome Dinner was held by the Bandar lampung City Government at the Bandar lampung Mayor’s Office, Jln. Gatot Subroto, Teluk betung, Bandar lampung. The Mayor gives a dinner treat that is followed by the ranks of the City Government of Bandar lampung as well as elements of higher education in Bandar lampung. Guests also get a cultural attraction in the form of dances and singing and guest interaction with the host. The entire group of guests also got souvenirs from the host.

The event began with the Opening of the Joint Summer School in the second floor of the rector’s meeting room, followed by the signing of the MOU between the Chancellor of the University of Lampung with the Delegation Chairperson Prof. Lidija kos-Stanisic representing the Chancellor of the University of Zagreb and Prof. Mirela Holy representing the Chancellor of Vern University. The two MOU documents were signed by each chancellor from Croatia. After signing the MOU, the program continued with Public Lectures by Prof. Lidija Kos Stanisic, Prof. Mirela Holy, Dr. Victorija Car and Dr. Unang Mulkhan with moderator Yulia Rahma Fitriana Ph.D.
After lunch, the guest group met with the Lampung Provincial Government in the Main Meeting Room of the Lampung provincial government. At this meeting the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Nebosja Coharovic gave a speech by briefly introducing the Republic of Croatia and the possibility of developing fields of cooperation between Croatia and Indonesia, especially Lampung. Deputy Governor of Lampung, Chusnunia Chalim Ph.D gave a speech representing the Governor by introducing the potential of Lampung Province as well as the opportunity for cooperation between Lampung and Croatia.
The second day’s event ended with dinner with the FISIP Alumni Association of the University of Lampung at the Bukit Randu restaurant, Bandar lampung.

The event began with a discussion between Unila’s FISIP staff and guest groups in the Unila FISIP Smart Room. In this meeting specifically discussed plans for cooperation that will be developed in the following year, especially the continuation of the joint summer school, writing scientific papers and joint research between staff of the three institutions (FISIP Unila with two guest universities).
The program continued with the first session (morning) and the ledua session (afternoon) of the joint summer school in twelve courses by lecturers from the University of Zagreb and Vern University, which was attended by around 370 student participants from Lampung, both S1 and S2. Each class is moderated by a lecturer from FISIP Unila assisted by a Liaison Officer (LO) who is tasked with ensuring all infrastructure and summer school facilities.
The third day’s program ended with dinner at Summit Bistro with the host of Dharmajaya University.

The joint summer school program continued at the third session on Wednesday morning with 12 courses by 12 guest lecturers from 8 to 10. At 10-12 the event continued with a seminar by 5 guest students who presented their research results which were followed by lecturers and FISIP Unila students. The event ended with the closing of the joint summer school and the giving of certificates to the guest group by Paniti Joint Summer School.
In the afternoon the group made a cultural visit to the Aan Ibrahim Gallery and the Lampung Province Dekranasda, followed by a trip to the Rhino Sanctuary Sanctuary (SRS) in the Way Kambas National Park complex, East Lampung. In the evening there was a dialogue between the guest group and TNWK and SRS stakeholders, preceded by a Balinese dance presentation by young girls from the villages around TNWK and film screenings of the University of Lampung’s service activities in an effort to empower communities around TNWK and SRS related to rhino conservation efforts and more general longer with regard to natural resources. The event was also preceded by a dinner provided by the East Lampung Regency Government which also facilitated a group of guests with free access to SRS and TNWK.

The visiting group visited the Rhino Sanctuary Sanctuary and received an explanation of the efforts to preserve and breed the rhino by the SRS leaders and veterinarians who intensively cared for the rhinos in SRS. SRS is a success story of rhino breeding efforts in its habitat and is appreciated by the international community. SRS is funded by the Indonesian rhino foundation supported by international and state rhino foundations and other donor agencies.
The morning program continued with a visit to an elephant hospital and an elephant attraction area in TNWK. In this visit, guests have the opportunity to watch the care of an elephant seeker who is sick by TNWK veterinarians and students who are street vendors. The program at TNWK ended with the giving of souvenirs by a group of guests to the host of TNWK. And lunch at the people’s home (home stay) with local culinary dishes that are very liked by guests.
After the visit of TNWK, the guest group was received by the East Lampung Regency Government in the Main Meeting Room of the East Lampung Regency Government. At this meeting the Regent of East Lampung explained various conditions and potentials of East Lampung Regency, especially the potential trade with Croatua. The fifth day’s program ended with dinner at Mahan Agung at the invitation of the Governor of Lampung Province. The event was presented with cultural events in Lampung and Croatia songs and dances by students of Teknokrat University.

Friday June 28, 2019
At 8-10.30: Signing of the MOU between the University of Zagreb and Vern University with the University of Teknokrat followed by an international seminar at the University of Teknokrat with a speech from the guest group lecturer: Dr. Ruica Jakesevic, Dr. Hrvoje and Dr. Marija Slijepsevic.
13: 14.30: Guest lecture at the Sumatra Institute of Technology with Dr. Robert Mikac, Dr. Dana the day after tomorrow, and Dr. Nikolina Borcic.
At 15-17: 30: the signing of the MOU between the University of Zagreb and the University of Vern with IBI Dharma Jaya continued with a Guest Lecture at IBI Dharmajaya by Dr. Marta Zorco, Borna Zguric Mag. Pol., And Ivana Cesarec Mag.Pol.
The sixth day event was closed with dinner at Omah Jowo Restaurant with the host of Lampung University, specifically PKLI.

The seventh day event is a snorkeling tour visit on Pahawang Island and its surroundings. Night is a free night for groups of guests to enjoy the City of Bandarlampung.

The group left Bandarlampung to Denpasar, Bali to continue the Joint Summer School with Warmadewa University, Denpasar, Bali. The committee, represented by the chairman (Dr. Ari Darmastuti) and the Secretary (Unang Mulkhan Ph.D) accompanied the guest group to coordinate the preparation for the continuation of the joint summer school 2020 activities in Croatia.
The success of this Summer School activity is the result of collaboration of many parties. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lampung was the main person in charge of activities through the summer school committee which was formed at the FISIP level. At Lampung University level, the University supports through the UPT International Cooperation and Services Program (PKLI).
The Study Program at FISIP Unila assigns lecturers to be in charge of subjects that are operationalized according to the specifics of each department and subject and the expertise of guest lecturers from Croatia. In addition, the committee at the Faculty level is assisted by Liaison Officers (LO), each of whom is tasked with assisting certain stages of the activity.
All speakers (guest lecturers and internal lecturers), summer school participants, general stadium participants and international student seminar participants and committees received certificates as proof of appreciation for their participation in the success of the summer school event and other related activities.
