Wokshop of Safety Management University of Lampung 2018
UNILA appointed UPT PKLI as the committee for the implementation of the Safety Management workshop held in the Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Rectorate Building. This activity invited all the leaders in the University of Lampung, from the Chancellor and the four representatives, the Heads of UPT and the Bureau, the Deans of the Faculty along with the three representatives, the Safety Management Team, and the students representing each of the Lampung University Faculties. The workshop this time carries the theme “Dissemination and Preparation of HR for Preventing and Facing Disasters”, where with this activity, it is expected that UNILA residents are able to face natural disasters and prevent social disasters well.
In his introduction, the vice rektor for academic affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bujang Rahman, M. Sc., said, “There are many potential disasters that occur in Indonesia. But there are some disasters that can be anticipated. Disaster itself is divided into two forms; nature and social (caused by humans) “.
Furthermore, Prof. Bujang also explained the data on disasters that occurred in Indonesia, especially in Lampung Province,
“Throughout 2018, there were 18 disasters in Lampung. We include living in disaster-prone countries, if we do not respond properly, we cannot survive any disaster. Reflecting on the occurrence of disasters that occur in many regions, most of the victims who fall are not due to disaster, but because they are wrong in responding to the disaster, “he said.
Prof. Bujang also said that in accordance with the expectations of the Chancellor, UNILA needed to hold a Safety Management program. “UNILA has been included in 6 ACP (Asian Coooperative Program) countries consisting of many universities and led by Kansai University (Japan)”. The 6 countries are; Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia.
He also hoped that, “Today is a momentum where UNILA raises this activity as an important internal issue to become a main program, in the form of provisions that are our contribution to society. To support this program, UNILA needs to prepare itself by conducting research, service, making disaster plans, and collaborating with BNPB and BNP2TK and many other approaches academically.
The next session was followed by a panel discussion divided into 5 sessions. This session discussed the Aspects of Safety Management from various disciplines (Engineering, Industry, Laboratory, Health, Education, and Psychology). But before that, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Satria Bangsawan, S.E., M.Sc., gave input to the moderator, Dr. dr. Asep Sukohar, M. Kes., To emphasize further discussion about how UNILA can provide solutions that will later become the routine of UNILA residents. He suggested that, “for new students there needs to be a simulation and training session on how to cope with social disasters, obstruction problems, drugs, and securing the environment as FEB has done, how to use fire extinguishers for employees, which of course relates to moments of Anniversary Natalis UNILA so that UNILA will be better in the future “.
